UNECA and the Centre of Excellence for CRVS Systems co-hosted a 3-day virtual workshop on leadership and resource mobilization for Registrars General and Senior Managers of Civil Registration in Africa on March 23-25, 2021. The purpose of this workshop was threefold:
- To equip African Registrar Generals and Senior Managers of Civil Registration with management tools to lead and strengthen CRVS initiatives in Africa.
- To support the African Registrar Generals and senior managers to deliberate on how to make strategic shifts to take the APAI-CRVS initiative to the next level by taking stock of achievements, identifying and prioritizing available opportunities, and devising ways of addressing current challenges.
- Create a learning and knowledge platform for sharing of achievements and challenges for African Registrar Generals and senior managers.
The workshop was part of a larger commitment by UNECA and the Centre of Excellence for CRVS Systems to support a learning and sharing platform for African leaders of Civil Registration that enables sharing of good and innovative practises amongst countries. In so doing, we’ll ensure a continuous focus on the resolutions by African Ministers Responsible for Civil Registration to build holistic, inclusive, and integrated Civil Registration Systems that guarantee legal recognition of all vital events and generate vital data and statistics for planning and policy making.
