About us

The Centre of Excellence for CRVS Systems is a global knowledge hub on civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems. We collaborate with organizations and experts to broker access to information and expertise, including global standards, tools, research evidence, and relevant good practice.

Our purpose

Our purpose is to make knowledge readily available for countries working to develop, strengthen, and scale-up their national civil registration systems and improve their vital statistics reporting.

We are committed to creating stronger links between civil registration, health information, and vital statistics systems so that government policies and programs can be informed by reliable, real-time evidence. This is critical for countries to meet the needs of the populations they serve.

We recognize the value of CRVS systems for

  • reaching the Sustainable Development Goals
  • ensuring good governance, including protecting rights and delivering public services
  • meeting commitments to gender equality
  • improving reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health
